The Supreme Court of Nova Scotia is welcoming a new judge with the appointment of the Honourable Charlene Moore to the Family Division.
The appointment, effective immediately, was announced by the federal Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada earlier this week.
“I’m pleased to welcome Justice Moore to the Supreme Court (Family Division). With her extensive experience in the areas of family law and child protection, I know she will be a tremendous asset to our Bench,” said the Hon. Deborah K. Smith, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia.
Justice Moore will preside in Sydney.
There is currently one vacancy on the Supreme Court.
The Hon. Charlene Moore
Justice Charlene Moore graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (1994) and a Bachelor of Law degree (1998) from Dalhousie University.
As a lawyer, she practiced for 18 years in the areas of family law, child protection, adult protection, residential tenancies and Income Assistance and CPP-Disability appeals. At the time of her appointment, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Nova Scotia Legal Aid.
She was designated Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2019.
