Update to Court Operations at Devonshire Courthouse
Following flooding and water damage, remediation work at the Devonshire courthouse (3380 Devonshire Ave., Halifax) has continued. In-person matters have recommenced, and the Court Administration Office is now operational at its usual location on the lower level. Mail collection/drop-off remains on the main floor, as does the front counter for the Family Law Information Program (FLIP). Further updates will be provided.

Robing Ceremony for Judge Cameron MacKeen

The Provincial Court of Nova Scotia will host a robing ceremony in Halifax on Friday, October 9, 2026, to officially welcome the Honourable Judge Cameron MacKeen to the Bench.

Judge MacKeen was appointed to the Provincial Court on February 13, 2026.

The ceremony will be livestreamed from the Halifax Provincial Court starting at 3:00 p.m. on October 9. Attendance is by invitation. The public and media can watch online at https://www.courts.ns.ca/operations/webcasts. Archived video of the ceremony will be posted online following the event.

The Hon. Judge Cameron MacKeen

A graduate of Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, Judge MacKeen was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2003. As a lawyer, he had a private practice before joining Nova Scotia Legal Aid as a staff lawyer in 2013. In 2022, he became managing lawyer for Legal Aid’s Halifax South office, the largest office in the province. He served as a member of the Acadia University Board of Governors and was a past member of the Dalhousie Legal Aid Board of Governors. Before his legal career, Judge MacKeen was a journalist.
